Half Past Lavish interviewed Kimberlee (our designer!!) on her upcoming collection to be presented at the Parasol Party.

HPL: What is your inspiration for the Deco Modiste collection being unveiled at the Parasol Party?
Kimberlee: Having a background as a costume designer, I took on the theme of the party as the inspiration for my new collection. Marie Antoinette crossed with the flirty fifties in a soft color pallet were the key ideas behind this fun collection of cocktail dresses and evening gowns.
HPL: The Parasol Party sounds like every girl’s fantasy, no matter how old we get! What interested you most about becoming a featured designer for the night?
Kimberlee: I had been working on a collection of cocktail dresses, evening gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and wedding gowns for the past few months. I’m inspired by the location of the event, the Clise Mansion and the English gardens, and the theme for the event; Marie Antoinette crossed with flirty Fifties makes the Parasol Party the perfect venue to unveil my newest collection.
HPL: Tell us a little bit about Deco Modiste and who you are as a designer?
Kimberlee: Deco Modiste – n., French – (dek-oh. moh-deest.) – a female maker of women’s fashionable attire in a mode suggestive of elegant and stylish modernism. Deco Modiste is a small clothing company based in Seattle, WA, providing classic, ready-to-wear items that will quickly become a staple in any wardrobe. The line is designed and manufactured in the USA using natural fibers and notions. The focus is women’s separates with a vintage flair and vintage inspired designs with a modern twist. Deco Modiste offers simple, elegant, and fun pieces that work well with seasonal trends, but are timeless enough to become classics. Deco Modiste clothing is for the woman on the go and easily translates from office to evening. The company specializes in small, limited runs. Offering limited runs ensures the quality of our garments will remain high while remaining unique.
HPL: What makes these garments unique?
Kimberlee: The collection of dresses is constructed out of salvaged wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses – I’m reworking the lace, buttons, and fabric into new inspired designs.
HPL: Oooh, we love eco-friendly too! Kimberlee, we are so excited to have you join us at the Parasol Party! See you on June 11th!
